Tossup
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad divided this concept into five types, two of which were compared to drowning or being behind a curtain. Al-Wāḥidī wrote an early book in a field that analyzes reactionary forms of this concept called Asbab al-Nuzul. This concept, which al-Bukhārī claimed was accompanied by the continuous ringing of a bell, is accessible by purifying the heart in al-Ghazali’s interpretations of Sufi readings. The lexicographer Ibn Isḥāq (“iss-HOCK”) argued that this concept’s secret or private nature meant that ’ilhām had the same meaning. Ash‘arite ethics places this concept over human reason, or ‘aql (“AH-kull”). The doctrine of ’i‘jāz supports the idea that this concept’s final occurrence was the Qur’an. For 10 points, name these divine communications given by angels, such as in the Cave of Hira between Jibrīl and Muhammad. ■END■
